Carlson took a job from a walk-in, Wendelyn Sontanna, asking for an investigator to scope an apartment complex. The cleaner, Janice Mayes, has gone missing. Janice stopped returning any land-line calls and never punched-off work. Local apartment resident Floyd Cartwright, the secondary skiptrace target, and Wendelyn had been friendly as she works for the landlord's family. She explained that recently there have been suspicious characters watching the apartment at odd hours of the night too, and Floyd hasn't picked up his mail in over a month. She would go and inspect his apartment herself she says, but there's been a strong warding hex placed on the apartment door. She's come to Carlson for a top-notch mage investigator to find out where Janice is and what's going on in there.

Desperate for a decent gig, investigate the apartment and search for the missing persons as Carlson Stoker, Fire Mage Detective. Use fire magic to uncover clues in the house and explore its depths in a 1920's New York fantasy-noir setting.
